The Commons Events is focused on providing exceptional experiences, whether it be a dazzling holiday party, a memorable wedding, a unique social gathering or bespoke meetings. By joining the Commons Events and Marketing team, you will play an integral role in the successful execution of each exquisite event held here at The Commons, as well as taking part in telling our story.

We are looking for an extroverted and social professional with strong marketing and social media skills to join our Events and Marketing team in the role of Sales and Marketing Coordinator reporting into the Marketing Lead. This position will support the events department to market and sell events ranging from professional gatherings to social soirees and weddings. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to generate a buzz, draw people in and get them excited about booking or attending our events. This role will work closely with the Events team by responding to initial event inquiries, conducting tours, and liaising with Events Coordinators to relay details of an upcoming event, as discussed with the client. 

Key responsibilities


  • Responding to initial sales inquiries via email or phone

  • Attend relevant trade shows and industry events to establish partnerships and to promote our venue

  • Utilize sales data to inform marketing and sales tactics

  • Liaise with community partners on joint marketing and sales efforts

Marketing expertise

  • Collaborate and execute a marketing strategy focused on brand awareness, lead generation and retargeting

  • Seek out opportunities for marketing events and speaker opportunities

  • Monitor and manage the marketing strategy for success and make recommendations as needed (familiar with marketing KPIs, marketing analytics, measuring campaign performance and results)

  • Experience in multichannel content creation; exceptional writing, storytelling and creative thinking skills

  • Experience managing a company’s social media presence by developing and executing social media campaigns achieving positive growth and engagement

  • Implement SEO strategies, and is familiar with Squarespace and website development practices 

Social media and advertising

  • Develop and manage digital programs, including paid advertising, native, influencers and website improvements

  • Manage the website with up-to-date offerings and packages

  • Optimize website and online content for SEO purposes

  • Support social media planning and execution (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)

  • Owning, organizing and updating our internal image database

  • Curating and updating presentations and slide decks to showcase The Commons

  • BONUS: Graphic design responsibilities, including designing print & online ads and communications materials, promotional postcards and marketing collateral

Qualifications, Software and systems

  • University education or equivalent formal post-secondary education with a degree in business or marketing, or a related field

  • Experience in working with Google Analytics or other web analytics as well as social media analytics platforms

  • Strong technical SEM background & proven track record in paid search engine optimization and paid social advertising

  • Established knowledge of fundamental graphic design principles, proficiency working with the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) 

  • Proficient with CRM systems


  • Full time, 40 hours/week

  • Schedule flexibility is required in order to attend evening networking events or accommodate later tour requests

  • Calgary or Canmore based with the ability to travel to Calgary 2-3 times weekly
