Welcome to the Commons! We are thrilled to partner with you to provide our meeting and event clients with unique offerings, inspiring visions, exceptional service and our collective commitment to sustainability.

The Commons is a boutique cowork, meeting and event space in the heart of Ramsay/Inglewood and with over 5,000 square feet of event venue space we serve as a locale for both professional and social affairs.

Industrial opulence unites our collection of venues through their exposed brick back drops and crystal cadence.

The Parlour RoomThe Commodore Room and The Hemingway Room are the event spaces at The Commons. All original rooms within the historic Westeel building (circa 1919), each room is unparalleled in their unique architectural personality, yet match in their open concept flexibility to accommodate nearly any event you can imagine.


The Parlour Room boasts a modern-vintage industrial style reminiscent of gentlemen's smoking rooms of times past. Velvet couches, leather benches and crystal chandeliers decorate the space while moveable furnishings and two large projector walls make this room an adaptable place to host either a social soiree or business function.

Best suited for low-key, intimate affairs such as high-end cocktail parties.


Sleek concrete floors and three grand west-facing windows framed by 22 feet of original exposed brick, The Hemingway Room is simple yet bold, and undeniably charming. Rich in character as the stories once written by Ernest himself, we invite you to compose your event in our most dexterous of venues.

Best suited for bigger parties or large functions such as industry networking nights.


The Commodore Room exudes a timeless aesthetic. Three west-facing windows wash the space in an abundance of natural light. Enclosed with crisp white brick borders and anchored by a grande crystal chandelier, its surmounting charm extends far beyond its frame as the most intimate of our event venues.

Fit for creative classes, exquisite dinner parties or pop-up showcases of your latest conception.

Access and Storage


Access and Storage


We work closely with vendors to ensure a seamless event for our clients and try to accommodate drop offs and pick-up’s as best as we can.

Access for vendors is inclusive of the clients’ agreed rental times. If early drop-off’s or late pick-ups are required, the client must make arrangements with our Venue Coordinator and additional costs may incur. Early access and late tear-down approval is subject to availability and is not guaranteed.

We have very limited storage facilities onsite and cannot accommodate overnight storage.

Catering Prep Areas


Catering in our nonagenarian building without a commercial kitchen can certainly be an adventure! We try our best to accommodate traditional catering appliances and expectations, but are clear about our policies and limitations. We're happy to work with you to develop menus that are capable of being prepared in our space, without compromising on quality. Haven't you always wanted to prep hors d'oeuvre under an Italian crystal chandelier?!

Décor

We want your event to feel like your own! You are welcome to put up your own décor, however all décor must be pre-approved. Nothing can be mounted to the ceiling or walls without approval and no tacks, pins or other materials that may damage the walls, ceiling, floors or furniture may be used at any time. No glitter, confetti or other hard-to-clean items are allowed.

Furniture

The furniture in The Parlour room is included in the venue costs (at The Commons discretion) If you require furniture in another room rental, please as your Event Coordinator for our Furniture Renal Inventory.

Music & Dance Floors

The Parlour Room can accommodate and permits Live Bands only (no DJ’s permitted in The Parlour Room) or a dance floor given the appropriate room layout. The Hemingway Room allows DJ’s and more shimmy-and-shaking!

Open Flame

No open flame is permitted.

Catering

For events in The Parlour Room, the menu must be approved by The Commons. Please speak with the Venue Coordinator about the types of foods permitted in The Parlour Room.

We set and achieve high goals in order to offer our client exceptional customer service. In the event industry, it is a unified effort in which the entire experience for a client works together to ensure there is no compromise in service, quality, or integrity. We have chosen to work with you because of the shared valued in service and similar expectations of staff. It is our expectation that when in our venue and providing a service to our mutual clients every employee and staff conduct themselves with high pride, integrity and honesty. It is expected that third party staff adhere to the following expectation;

  • Respect the venue, furniture, fixtures and office equipment that resides in the space
  • Maintain professional relationships with The Commons staff, clients and other vendors to include acting in an appropriate and respectful manner
  • Discrete and confidential approach to conversations and/or information seen or heard throughout the venue and cowork space
  • Professionally dressed

Marketing and Communications


Leveraging strategic partnerships through marketing and communication platforms is a great way to strengthen both our brands! By partnering with vendors that we believe in and align with our corporate goals we believe it can be mutually beneficial to leverage each others customers, contacts and brand reputation. So, let's promote each others brands, spread the marketing work load and strengthen the relationship we have with each others customers!

Insurance Requirements


Insurance Requirements


All contractors, vendors or service providers coming on to The Commons Calgary premises to provide services are required to have insurance. We require all third party vendors to carry insurance with a minimum induvidual liability of $2M. Coverages and limits are to be considered as minimum requirements and in no way limits the liability of the vendor, contractor or service provider.
