THE COMMONS ‘SHOW & TELL’ IS A MONTHLY CONVERSATION SERIES. EACH EVENT IS HOSTED BY A COMMONS MEMBER WHO CHOOSES A TOPIC AND SHARES THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE IN THAT AREA. The idea is to ASK AN EXPERT QUESTIONS IN AN INFORMAL SETTING, LEARN A NEW SKILL OR HEAR ABOUT THE LATEST AND GREATEST.

As part of your membership to The Commons, we’d like to offer you the opportunity to do a ‘Show & Tell’ one Wednesday over the lunch hour. We give you full access to our Parlour Room to create an event that showcases you or your business. It can be as large or as intimate as you choose. We find members embrace this opportunity as it allows them to introduce themselves to our members and wider community and get to know members on an informal basis. It is great exposure for your business and often results in new business and collaboration.

... And it’s not just for business! If you have a skill you’d like to share or have any other ideas we are open to suggestions. We highly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to introduce yourself!

Below is how a typical 'Show & Tell' runs, but we want you to make the event your own, so feel free to come to us with any ideas!

Time

Typically 12:30pm-1:30pm on a specific Wednesday every month.

Format

Short presentation/demo and a Q&A period. Some members use the projector for slides, others do a more informal chat. It is up to you!

LUNCH

As the event takes place over the lunch hour, we highly encourage you to provide lunch or snacks for the event. We find more people show up for the Show & Tells when food is provided!

EXPOSURE

The Commons will advertize your Show & Tell via the following means:

  • post on our website
  • include it in our monthly newsletter (over 600 readers)
  • put it on the chalkboard calendar in our space
  • send out through Facebook and Twitter (over 3000 followers)
  • design and send out an evite

We encourage presenters to also do their own marketing of the event. The space/time is yours so we want you to make the most of it!
